Cannot get new Plug and Play Mouse to work
- I was using a plug and play, "Verbatim" mini optical mouse. The right click button stopped working, so I bought a "Targus" plug and play mouse. When I plug the new mouse into a USB port, on my Compaq Presario F500 Notebook, nothing happens. The old mouse will still work (minus right click button). I am running Vista Home Premium. After trying a different USB port, Windows asked to load and install a driver for an unknown device. After successful installation and unsuccessful operation of mouse, Windows asked again to install the same driver. No change in results.
The new mouse worked fine on a different computer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nate- 已編輯chickntruckr Sunday, 5 July, 2009 1:51

- chickntruckr,
Here are a couple of things you need to do.
One, run the Windows Installer clean up utility. Go here to download it:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Then install the USB rollup:
Cumulative update rollup for USB core components in Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941600#appliesto
Then try installing the driver for the mouse again and let us know if that does not work.
Thank you,

- Hello chickntruckr,
Thank you for using Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.
Sorry you are having a problem with this. Have you went into Device Manager to check status on mouse? Go to Start-> Type in 'Device Manager'-> Select Device Manager-> Select 'Mice and other pointing devices'-> This should drop down a list of devices, right-click on your device (Targus) and select update driver.
If no luck right-click on your device and select uninstall. (You might need to reboot) Then return and select install driver. Test this and please let us know status. Thanks!

I am unable to reinstall driver. I am receiving error 800f020b. I have tried different mice in different USB ports and get the same error. - chickntruckr,
