    • Vista SP1 is a prerequisite for installing SP2. If you use Windows Update or the Automatic Update feature in Windows Vista, you will not be offered the option to install SP2 until you first install SP1.

This is a huge departure from standard MS practice.  Why was this change made?  It makes no sense.

5 people on my block alone have dead computers after the update.  Our HardDrives are all FRIED.  Curious as to what MS is planning on doing for those of us whose computers are dead now...

Before I knew it wasn't my fault I went and purchased a new hard-drive (this morning).  Now, I'm even trying a clean install of my Vista Home Premium OS and can't even do that on my NEW hard drive!

It's bad enough losing my 500 GB hard drive due to a malfunction that is NOT my fault, but if I get told I need to buy a new OS disk, it will NOT be Microsoft...

On 8/26/09, I did an update.  I have automatic updates  turned on.  AFter the update, I turned on the computer and it ran a few minutes and then I got the "blue screen."  I did a restore and now it seems to work OK.  I then reinstalled the updates, and again, got the blue screen when I ran the computer.  I again did a restore and again it seems to work ok.  I have Vista.  Is there a problem with some recent updates?
