We have two workstations running Vista Business.  Small files copy to our share, named Office Shared Folder, but over a certain file size we receive the following message in a window labeled: Copy Folder.

"There is not enough space on Office Shared Folder.  You need an additional XX megabytes to copy these fies."
XX megabytes is the size of the file we attempt to copy to the share.  The only info that even comes close is KB Article Number 954037, which lists three fixes.  We applied the first of the three, but the issue remains.

    Hi Richard

Thank you for Posting on Microsoft Answers.

We typically refer users who have machine on a Domain over to Technet for assistance as this Forum does not support machines attached to a Domain, however before we do that, I would like to ask a question or two.

How do you do the File Copying?  Is it manual drag and drop or do you have a utility that's doing this?
If you go to an elevated command prompt and "copy" the files, do you still get the error message?

I've personally copied files hundreds of megabytes in size across the network, however, I've not tested it going to a "Server" only to another Workstation.

Please Post back and reply to my questions.  Keep in mind we may still be suggesting you check out Technet.

    thank you

Is there any type of Disk Quota on that Share? Are these computers part of a Windows Domain?

    Hello,

There is no Disk Quota on the share, unless a default pre-existed.  The two PCs that have this issue are running Vista Biz and the users, both local domain users.  The only boxes in our offices that don't have this issue run XP Home and the users of those XP boxes can copy/move any size/type file to the share.

The shared folder is just sitting on the Desktop of a box that is running SBS R2.  Simple file sharing and Vista file sharing are what they are using.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hello Ken,

Thank you for your response.  The two Vista users are dropping their files on a Desktop shortcut for the shared folder.
We haven't tested for the error from an elevated command prompt; will have them test this variation.

    Thanks again,

    Rick
