    Hi,

I am getting svchost.exe application errors, and the messages are as follows:

The instruction at "0x7c911daf" referenced memory at "0xfffffff8". The memory could not be read.
The instruction at "0x7c9108d3" referenced memory at "0xfffffff8". The memory could not be read.

These errors are causing internet explorer to not work, and I can not get a web page to open.

How can I find out what is causing these errors?

    Thanks,

    Mike.

    Hi Mike,

Thank you for responding to the post. This is a Windows Vista support forum but I’ll be happy to offer some suggestions that might get you pointed in the right direction.

Since, the issue is with the XP computer, I would recommend checking Windows XP specific resources:

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Answers Vista Forums.

From the last post , it is not clear about when you receive the above error. Also, I would like to know which version of Internet Explorer is installed on the computer.

Meanwhile, you may try following the steps below:
    1. Try this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916089
    2. You may also try Internet Optimization for the issue with Internet Explorer.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936213
    3. If Internet Explorer 8 is installed, then you may also try uninstalling Internet Explorer 8.

Let us know if that helps.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Chethan Kumar.

    Hi,

I happens most of the time, after startup, when trying to open internet explorer.

The pc is running Windows XP and IE7.

With this problem nothing can connect to the internet except microsoft error reporting, that seems to be the only thing that will connect.

The virus software will not update as it can't connect to the internet.
    Windows update will not run.

I have gone into 'cmd', and I have done a ping to www.google.co.uk, and I got the desired responses, so I know the broadband connection is working.

I have cleaned the registry, I have optermised IE7, and I have exhausted my knowledge.

I just keep getting the error messages I reported earlier.

Obviously I am writing to you from another pc.

Is there anyway I can find out what is causing this, could it be a corupt driver or something like that.

    Any suggestions would be greatful.

    Many thanks,

    Mike.
