I'm running XP Professional. I have Windows Media Player 11. I can view .wmv videos but .avi videos have sound but the video appears like a kaleidoscope or psychedilic screen saver. Any suggestions?

I want to be able to move pictures around freely on a Windows Word page but the pictures keep snapping back into place on the margins. Is there a snapping function etc. that I can turn off so I can move photos around with the cursor?
