I have two photos (before and after if you will) of a number of people. I want the pictures of each person to be side by side themselves. How can I tag or name so that this will arrange that way.
Example: Tom Jones 1 beside Tom Jones 2.

Thanks Vasudev. This is going tot be a presentation of Veterans with pictures showing them in uniform and now out of uniform, the screen will show them  side by side on each slide.
    I will experiment with that.

FWIW...the freeware IrfanView can combine two photos edge to edge.
This way each before and after would actually be one photo. Then you
could use them in a slideshow or whatever and be assured that they
    would remain side by side.

    IrfanView
    http://www.software.com/irfanview
    (get the plug-ins too)
    http://www.software.com/irfanview-plugin

Once you have IrfanView downloaded and
installed...open the program and go to...

    ...Image / Create Panorama Image...

Make your selection and click the Create Image button.

When you see the combined images displayed
in the view screen...go to...File / Save As...

    Choose a Save Location...

    Choose A format...

Give the file a new name...

    Click...Save...

Maybe I am missing something. I have created a panarama image with "creat image button" What I have now is a panorama image of pictures on viewer. I named the file "Veterans" and saved under KeithPierce.
Now you say choose a format and give a new name. Maybe this is what is missing. Have I not already done that above when I saved it.
Now what I have is a saved panarama image on the screen, but it won't let me do anything with it, like select images to put the two photo's into one frame.

Please allow me to try and clarify some steps that may help...
(believe me...this is much easier to do than it is to explain so
don't give up...you will like the result).

Open IrfanView and go to...Image / Create Panorama Image...
(this will open the "Create panorama image" screen)

On the "Create panorama image" screen...left click the "Add images" button.
(This will display the "Open" screen. Now...drill down to the
folder that contains your saved Photos of the Vets.

Now...left click (highlight) the two images you wish to join.
(you can multiple select if you hold your Ctrl key)

With the two images highlighted...left click the "Open" button.
(Or...you can add the images one at a time...which ever is easier)

Now you should be back to the "Create panorama image" screen
and the file names of the selected photos should be in the
    "Input Images" field.

Now with the two file names in the "Input Images" field...
you can left click the "Create Image" button.

(the left and right positions of these images can be reversed by
selecting a file name and using the "Move Images Up" / "Move
    Images Down"...buttons)

Now you should see a display of the combined image.
    Go to...File / Save As...

Choose a save location / Enter a file name / Choose a format...
    Left click the "Save" button...

Hopefully I have touched on the area that was causing problems...

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Do you mean in the Gallery view withing Windows Live Photo Gallery?
There are a number of ways you can accomplish this, depending on your view. if the pictures are saved withing a single folder on your hard drive with no other photos, they will appear together when you view that folder.
You can also tag each photo with a unique tag that is not assigned to any other photos in your collection and then select the view of that tag.
And, you can accomplish the view by renaming the files and then sorting whatever view you have selected to be by file name.

Or you can import all your photos to the New WL Movie Maker and there you can just drag and place in the order you want the photos to be and make a movie by automovie option.

John (or others) I have downloaded the IRFan programs and have my panorama pictures in the black window of IRFAN view.
Can you give me more steps to make a video or slide show for presentation. I have never made one of these before. I want to make a presentation slide show with the pictures and also add audio with each picture clip if possible. These then to be burned to a dvd od CD. ARFANs instructions are not very clear as to the steps to take.
Maybe there are clearer instrctions somewhere.
Also can this be done in Windows Movie Maker. The pictures remember must be before and after side by side.
    Thanks,

Hi Keith, I have not tried this option in IrfanView, but as John said create your combined photos in Irfan view , save each one of them. So you will have single combined photos of pairs of photos put side by side. Now you can put all of these paired photos in a directory.
Now open WLMovie Maker, and drag these photos into WLMM from the folder , and just press AutoMovie and you will be presented with Movie. During this it will also ask to add audio which you can keep it prepared by recording by putting your own recorded voice or browse it to any background music whcih will be played during the movie playing. It will adjust to the duration of play.
To record your own audio , use Sound Recorder to record, (In windows 7 just type 'soundrecorder' in search box and from there you can open it.
You can play around with various options in WLMM to add more features/effects.

Yes, PhotoStory 3 works on Vista and on Windows 7 as well.

Sorry...I have no idea what the church system is...the finished
PhotoStory will be in the .wmv movie format...maybe you can
check and see if .wmv is compatible with their system.

FWIW...Saving the Project in PhotoStory simply creates a .wp3
project file that will only be useful for re-editing. To complete
the project in the .wmv movie format...as you progress through
the various screens of the program you will come to the,
"Save Your Story" screen...if you left click the Next button on
this screen...the .wmv Movie will be saved.

Just in case you want a DVD...here's a useful tutorial:

Every thing worked just fine and the file is saved into the Papajohn file. I downloaded all the programs, Free pack (Free mp3,easy audio cutter, free cd ripper) also down loaded free easy burner.
Instruction says to open the "Free vidios to DVD v2.1. I don't find this in the downloads. When I click on any of the above a pop up comes up to load "Roxio my DVD DE'" and when I try to load it it I get a pop up that says I need a disc to load it. It keeps trying to load even thoug I delete it it still trys and I have to use the task master to get rid of it. Roxie 9 is on my system. Is it maybe the default on some file is the reasion it is coming up.

Wow! You are really confusing me now by mentioning tasks that I didn't suggest.

Sounds like you downloaded and installed software that you did not need. And
just to refresh my memory...what do you mean when you say, "the file is saved
    into the Papajohn file"?

I thought all that was needed was PhotoStory 3 and 'MoviesToDVD' (that is what
you download when you select 'Free Videos To DVD'). And always uncheck all
the extra stuff they want to install.

How did Roxio get involved? Maybe you could have used it to start with...I
was under the impression that you did not have any video editing software.

It may be worth a try to see if you can do a System Restore to a time before
all the downloads and try again.

    This is not looking good.

John I downloaded the files you said except that pctoby instructed I needed to download the papajohn file. That is the file that the project is saved into.
When I click the open file is when Roxio starts to try to install then says I need a disc to install.
Maybe I need to uninstall that.
More later If needed I'm tired tonight.

OK...now I know what the PapaJohn file was...it was just a
Custom Profile to improve the resolution of the PhotoStory.
    That's a good thing...

So...tell me...how does the PhotoStory .wmv filelook when
you play it in Windows Media Player?

Sorry...but I have no idea what is wrong with Roxio...as I
previously suggested...it may be worth a try to do a System
Restore to a time before the issue began and try again.

Or...if you do not use Roxio...you may want try uninstalling
it but that would be your choice. If it's not a program that
you purchased it's probably a limited version that was included
in your OEM software package and you probably do not have
    a disk to reinstall it.

The Photo story looks and sounds excellent in WMP. I am not through yet but dubbed in some patriotic music and narration all looks and sounds good. I was going to make a DVD to take and see if it was going to work ok on their system.
Next I will uninstall Roxio, I do have a disc for this one, so I can reinstall if I want to later.
Will let you you know if I can open Free Vedio-DVD.

Everything was working real well to step 5, File Conversions. An error coversion message came up, "Conversion Critical error. Can't get resampling Context.
I uninstalled my Roxie and Free Video installed fine. How ever now I cant get Roxio reinstalled. Thats another story in this answers form.
    Thanks,

I guess this is just a report...I don't see a question in there.

Were you able to burn the DVD?

    Thanks for the update.

Sorry about that John. I am stopped at the error message, can't get past it. How do I get the resamping context corrected or this error corrected so I can proceed to burn the DVD. What is causing the error?

    Sorry...Keith...now I get it.

All I have on the procedure is the article I posted for you in the beginning.

Once again...it may be worth doing a System Restore to a time before all
these problems began and start over.

I hope you can sort it out...Good Luck.

John I have completed the project above. I have my veterans in PS3 side by side, transitions, narrated and back ground music and I downloaded the Roxio DVD for PS ($19.95 small change to complete this project) and it plays great on TV. I burned a DVD of the project and it works on the church PC fine in the .wmv format.
I did not get the my free video to DVD to work. It kept freezing at the conversion critical error, can't get resampling context, so I quit with that one.
Thanks for all your help in getting this project together.
