I have been using FS for a year or so.  I rebuilt my kids machine (XP) and just downloaded FS from the Live site to reinstall.  Now, the only option I have is to choose a local account.  I have a windows domain set up at home and my kids log on with domain accounts, not local accounts.  Will FS work with a domain account now?  It used to.....

I don't know the answer to this, but I contacted someone who used to work on the program to inquire about it.

You're welcome, though I haven't received a reply or acknowledgement from that contact. Post back if you hear nothing else in a day or so and I'll ping someone else.

Can you provide some instructions on how you set that up, LordOfTheRuter? That would be very helpful!

But does it work with a domain account? I can pick a local account on the machine, but not a domain account.

    Hello,

I have heard back from our team that we currently have limited domain support on the client, we only enumerate domain accounts that are administrators. We are working to expand domain support.

Thanks for bringing this up to our attention.

    Hi,

Yes i have been using FS for some time as well, this latest update does not work on domain joined machines.

Can we at least have the option to revert back to the older version??? As this worked no problem.

I have had to uninstall, I use this on all my PC's , have two children that can now surf anywhere!!  I really liked this product allowing email notification for requests etc, it's been ruined (well for me anyway). Please fix or at least let me go back a version until it is fixed.

When you say administrator, do you mean it will work with a domain account that is also a local administrator on the box or a domain administrator?

Any idea when I will be able to use the domain accounts I have set up for my 2 kids with FS? Local accounts are no good for me.

    Regards

Domain accounts have never been fully supported. Currently only admin domain joined accounts show up in the UI.

A work around is to make the child's account an admin account, add them in the UI, and then remove them from the admin groups.

The point was it was never dependant on the windows account as it used windows live login only. Now you have to associate to a windows account, and this does not work with Domain Joined Machines, as it does not recognise domain accounts!!!!!

I am also disappointed that this feature is not available for domain users.  I have given in and created a local account on the computer but now my users are going to have to go through the trouble of logging in either locally or to domain.  Now this wasn't so hard in windows xp because they gave you the 3rd box to select your domain or local computer, but with vista and windows 7 you now have to login locally using computername\user or to the domain using domain\user.  It wouldn't be a big deal if I only had the users doing this on one system.  My problem is I have to have them do this on 10 or more systems.
