     My Windows Updates are failing and I am receiving the above error code.  I have turned off my McAfee anti-virus and firewall and it does not help.  Any help will be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi tquick13,

       What update are you failing on, and when do you receive the error message?  You may want to try following some of the steps in the following KB article that we have linked to.  Ignore the title of the article because the listed steps may help you get your updates installed even though it is a different error code.

    I have the same problem. Some updates will work eg Office. But any updates that refer to Vista will not work. This has been the case since 29 Oct 2008. The last sucessful Vista update was KB958644.
