- File backup could not save your automatic backup settings for the following reason:
The request is not supported (0x80070032)
This backup has worked in the past

- Hi,
Reboot and then look at the 3 services I posted above. Are they still set correctly or did they change back.
Have you added any other backup software around the time this started, meaning a major program like
Acronis.
Here is a Google of that error and I am looking at altenatives, you might want to check those out too in case
something rings a bell. A tip, a lot the hits offer scans and Registry Tools to fix this error which is totally hype
and those will do more damage than anything else - registy cleaners do not fix this type (or many) errors
and any company that claims it can is bogus.

Not sure why anyone would try this :
1. If you are backing up a laptop, make sure that the AC adapter is connected, backup will not start on
battery power.
2. Here is one suggesting an InPlace Upgrade :

You can try an In-Place Upgrade (hopefully saves programs and data) or a repair installation (hopefully
saves data and will have to reinstall programs). Be sure to do a good backup or three (ironic advice
from me since backup is the issue here - this is my generic how to).
You can use another's DVD as they are not copy protected however you will need you own Product Key.

If nothing works you can do a repair installation which should save data however you will have to
reinstall programs. This also requires the correct Vista disks especially for OEM versions. You will
need to know your Product Code.
This tells you how to access the System Recovery Options and/or from a Vista DVD

- Hi,
Start - type in Search box -> Services find at top of list - Right Click on - RUN AS ADMIN
Double click on each of these and set as indicated L
Windows Event Log Started Automatic
Task Scheduler Started Automatic
Windows Backup Stopped Manual
Also Nod32 and other antivirus/antispyware/security products have been known to cause this issue.
If you still have issues set ALL your services to the DEFAULTS as listed here :
BlackViper

Hi SpiritX,
Thank you for your assistance with the error I am getting when trying to complete a backup.
Unfortunately after following your advice the same error still exists. I also set ALL services to the defaults as also suggested.
Hopefully there is another remedy I could try to enable a backup to be completed.
Thanks.
