    1. Having used a blank DVD to burn on photos,  how do I go about finding out how much space is left on the disk.
(The disk comes with 4.7GB on a DVD+RW @ 4x.) I need to know so that I can place ?  photos on the disk as a story , without being told the disk is now full.

    Hello gurkapirate,

Thank you for your reply back!

Are you able to view in Explore how much space is free on your DVD?  Insert your DVD in CD/DVD rom-> Right-Click on Start-> Select 'Explore'-> Find the DVD and right-click-> Select 'Properties'.  This should show you available space and used space on the disk.

    Hello Gurkapirate,

Thank you for posting.  What software are you using to burn the disk?  Most applications will display a running total of data as you are adding files to be burned.  If you know the blank disks capacity you can keep an eye on the total as you are adding files.  I hope this information is helpful.

    Thanks,

    Jack

    Hi Jack,

many thanks for your initail help and words of wisdom.  ALL i was trying to do was to use windows DVD Maker in a selection of photos and music themes in background. This worked great and I am thrilled at the outcome, however just couldnt work out any space left on disc so I couls add more, or how much more? Is there a way of knowing amount used through the drive the the information is being burnt to or through the Windows dvd maker prog that I may have missed or not seen? As u suggested the application Im using may be running total of burnt info to the disk but Im not seeing any? I agree its a simple step then to subtract the amount from the overall amount that can be used on the disk............

    ,Many thanks again Jack
