Yes 3 evils fight each other it seems, I thought if Defender was a anti-virus perhaps that would cause conflicts but as far as I know I have Spyroot w/antivirus. Malwarebytes is like adware software and Windows defender which came install on Vista.
Could they be running interferance with each other? I have been having a few issues which most seem are the lack of communication. I was and still am haveing a time keeping the time true and It was okay until today maybe because I reinstalling the Spyroots? before I got an answer here and had to reset my time-zone as well as my BIOS clock.
I hoped to get some of these issue fixed(there are more !) before installing Windows 7 which is on the way Ive heard.
    I have a ASUS CM5570- 64 bit 6 gb ram, 600 gb hd.
Ive also seen my CPU go up to 56% with 120 processes (normal 6o process) with no visible programs  I was using, on !
I did get a scan turn up with a trojan and one other bad 'thing" last week but now I cant find it even in Quarenteine..?

They said"lots of details so here more detail..to get more helpful advice.: )

Hardware conflicts ie: puter goe to Restart if I put it in Sleep mode.

Could this be that I plugged a flash drive 8 gig after I read it could help performance(even with all  the resources! )
and have a usb Ex.harddrv. and usb Incompatible printer MADE compatible
plus 2 usb wireless sticks. One for mouse, one for home wireless network.

Do I have TOO much things hooked on?
would you believe I still have 2 empty usb 2.0 ports ?

I have wrote alot for one question, next time i will break it down.
Thanks to anyone who has the time to think this through & give a experienced answer.

    Hi,

Here is what I use and recommend :

Avast and Prevx have proven extremely reliable and compatible with everything I have thrown at them.
Microsoft Security Essentials has also proven to be very reliable and compatible.

Avast Home Free - stop any shields you do not need except leave Standard, Web, and Network running.

    Prevx - Home - Free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (not needed if using MSE)

    IE - Protected Mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen Filter ON  (IE 7 Phishing Filter)

I also have IE to always start with InPrivate Filter active if IE 8.
(You occasionally have to turn it temporarily off with the little Icon on LEFT of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - Home - Free - stop any shields you do not need except leave Standard, Web, and Network running.
(Double Click Blue icon - details next to OK. - upper left Shields - Terminate those you do not use.)
    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - Free
    http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well along side Avast or MSE

Prevx - Home - Free small, fast, exceptional CLOUD protection, works with other security programs. This is
a scanner only, VERY EFFECTIVE, if it finds something come back here or use Google to see how to remove.

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor'a Choice
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unsual with
Avast and Prevx running except for an occasional low level cookie (no big deal), UPDATE it and then run it as
a scanner. I have many scanners and they never find anything of note since I started using this setup.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

    Windows Defender is an anti-spyware.

This is my general eradication and cleanup methods : Try these in Safe Mode - repeatedly tap F8
    as you boot.

Download malwarebytes and scan with it, run MRT, and add Prevx to be sure it is gone. (If Rootkits run UnHackMe)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it - Right Click on it - RUN AS ADMIN

    Malwarebytes - free
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Run the Microsoft Malicious Removal Tool

Start - type in Search box -> MRT  find at top of list - Right Click on it - RUN AS ADMIN.

You should be getting this tool and its updates via Windows Updates - if needed you can download it here.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it - Right Click on it - RUN AS ADMIN
    (Then run MRT as above.)

Thank you SpiritX for the suggested "cocktails" to try.

I  found that the Malwarebytes that I had been running somehow may have been misconfigured (not by me)
as it was seen in tasks with the word reboot after it and I couldnt open the program & error code came up.

So I re-downloaded & installed and ran.  Nothing new but the 2 previous {Mal/generic-A & W32/Auto-runQD} in Quarantine.

I installed Prevx with nothing I noticed outright. Unless the log I saved shows something...I dont think I could rightly analyze it myself.

Which brings me back to Windows defender. My error code did not match others on the Defender troubleshoting pages which after reading of all the issues, mine is enough..

decided I will not use it at all since my Antiviruis has Spyware Sweeper. I do not care for that software but want to make it work
since it was paid for & installed at the store where I bought the ASUS.

I have discovered a strange thing under Startups on Start Menu !  tmchlang.ink      strange because Windows told me that it
was on a path that doesnt exist,  Stands for Micro Trend known for Internet security. Its is strange because I have never used any other
Security/ AV software and havent had any other users on this Computer ? ?

I have  ran the Ckdisk last week so didnt see I needed to run just yet.

I couldnt get The MRT  - it seems that It is not  for 64 bit Vista Home Pre.
too bad that is a good tool, remember using on my XP.

    Hi,

You missed the link on the MRT page to the 64 bit version which was on the 32 bit page
(I added it to the above) :

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=585D2BDE-367F-495E-94E7-6349F4EFFC74&displaylang=en

My best advice is to ditch Spyware Sweeper and all that WebRoot and use Windows Defender (or MSE) or
Avast and Prevx. That you paid for it not sufficient reason to keep an unneeded tool that can impact your
system in a negative manner. As you can tell I have little faith in WebRoot.

Check with WebRoot for uninstall instructions if you wish to remove it.
