I keep getting warnings in the shut down and startup performance logs. I don't have any problems either way but for some reason I am getting some that are warnings, some critical and some errors. this is a log of one of the shut down processes. basicaly I am wondering if they mean anything or not.

    Hi,

Use this to read the Event Viewer

    MyEventViewer - Free
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/my_event_viewer.html

    ------------------------------

Try using a clean boot and the other methods here to troubleshoot. Process of elimination. Do you
have any software that does automatic backups of files that might be running. Also suspect your
antivirus/antispyware/security products. That there appears to be no serious errors you have
    noticed makes those very suspect.

I don't know if I have any thing particular that does automatic backups of things but Kaspersky might. not real sure though. I only have Kaspersky and Defender as Security programs that are running. I have done startup in both safe and clean mode. nothing really out of the ordinary other than with safe mode the things that don't load.

    Hi,

Use the Clean Boot as shown in the link above to see if that solves the issue. Kaspersky could be part of the
issue as it does strange things at times. Have you EVER had other antivirus on this machine even if you uninstalled
it? They leave remnants and we need to clean that out.

no I haven't had any other antivirus installed other than Kaspersky and just different versions of it. I have run on Kaspersky Internet security since day one with this machine.

    Hi,

Anything in the Event Viewer, did clean boot help?

Possibly a general corruption issue :

Try these to clear corruption and repair/replace damaged/missing system files.

Run DiskCleanup - Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup

Start - type in Search box -  COMMAND   find at top of list -  RIGHT CLICK  -  RUN AS ADMIN

    sfc /scannow

    generates in Windows Vista cbs.log

Then run checkdisk - schedule it to run at next start and then Apply OK your way out then restart.

    -----------------------------------------------

To check to see if Kaspersky has a role in this :

Download Avast - Home - Free

Download - SAVE - do not install.

Then use methods at Kaspersky site to uninstall it and reboot when done.

Then go to where you put Avast - Right Click on it - RUN AS ASMIN - install and reboot.

    Is the issue better now?

Avast - Home - Free - stop any shields you do not need except leave Standard, Web, and Network running.
(Double Click Blue icon - details next to OK. - upper left Shields - Terminate those you do not use.)
    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

    Hope this helps.

I did a run on check disk and no errors were found. the warnings and errors still appear in the performance log but like I said it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the syustem running. it is just letting me know if things have had slower startup or shut down times than usual but the regular boot warnings are alwaus there letting it know 9it has start up and shut down.

Well CleanBoot and the other troubleshooting methods can help you narrow it down if you want to do that.

the clean boot record came up with warnings as well as I said before mostly of things that did not load at that particular time. kind of like it does in xp when you load in safe mode and you get the error messages letting you know that certain drivers didn't load etc.

Yes however was the problem better? If so then you have to allow 1/2 and see and if no issue disallow
those and allow the other 1/2 and use a process of elimination to find the cause.

it sppeared the same. same entries. warning on one. error on startup. the computer itself shows no signs of problems it is just the logs themselves that I am wondering why there are errors.

Some program or service does not like to play with others....... though it does not seem to have
    and real ill effects.
