Windows update. Windows could not search for new updates.__Error code 80070246.__
- Vista 32 ultimate SP1 on Dell Xps1330. 4gb RAM.
When updating the process fails with the error code above.
THere is now no update history and manual updating is not possible.
Reading other forums suggests a corrupt file and the downloading and installation of the AIK and then replacing the corrupt file from the original media.
I have downlodaed the AIK which is an .img file.
How do I burn/unpack this file to enable the file replacement.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Provided as an example of a program that can burn an .img disk image -

If you have Nero, that'll also do it.
Winzip can open it also : Open and extract from Zip, Zipx, RAR, 7Z, LHA BZ2, CAB, IMG, ISO, and other archive files
