I have vista home premium on my desktop and have files set up for sharing with my laptop which is xp sp3. Everything has been working fine. Normally if I want to access a shared file using the laptop I go to network and see a folder identifying the desktop pc. I open it and there are the files I want to get at. The other day I had to do a system restore on the desktop back to a point a month ago. Everything went fine and restore was successful. However, now when I go to the laptop and try to access shared files that are on the desktop, when I open the first folder that identifies the desktop, I find another folder (which is identified as a shortcut) labled with the name Target. If I click on it then I get to the files I am after. I can't figure out where this Target shortcut came from that now takes me to the shared files. Has anyone any idea what might be happening? Thanks. Carl
If the target of a shortcut moves, the Windows shell will try to find the new location; this is known as "resolving" the shortcut. If you do not want the target short cut you may delete it.
