I have  a desktop with XP sp3 and a laptop with vista home premium sp2.  I have a printer connected to the XP desktop that is identified as a shared network printer.  I have two user accounts on the vista laptop.  From one account I can print wirelessly to the printer attached to desktop.  However, from the other account nothing happens when I try to use the printer.  Just says error with no error code.

The printer shows up as ready  and sometimes as offline even though it is on and can print from the other user account.  Any suggestionson what might be needed done so I can pring from wither user account? Thanks.

    Hi Carl43m,

I would suggest you to create a new user account and see if you are able to print. If you are able to print in the new user account then the other user account would have gone corrupt. Copy the files to your new user profile.

    1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.

    2. Click Manage another account.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. Click Create a new account.

    4. Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.

After you create the profile, you can copy the files from the existing profile. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to complete these steps, including the new account you just created.

Create new user profile and copy files to new user profile

I have a laptop with vista home premium system.  I have  two user accounts on the laptop.  Both user accounts can see a network shared printer.  One user account works perfectly.  The other user account can never get anything to print on the printer.  From the user account the printer shows as ready but when I select anything to print  nothing happens--no error message--nothing.  If I click on the printer icon it shows "error".  If I switch back to the first user account and try to print it works.  How can I get the second user account to be able to print with the printer also? Thanks.

    Bindu,
Thanks for the information.  One other question.  you say to copy the files from existing profile.  What files are you referring to that I should find and copy? Thanks.

    Hi Carl,

All files and folders which are under your old user account will be transferred to your new user account.

If you have e-mail messages in an e-mail program, such as Windows Mail, you must import your e-mail messages and addresses to the new user profile before you delete the old profile. If everything is working properly, you can delete the old profile.

    Go through this link properly.
