Error 502 when trying to use Windows Live Messenger
- Error Code 502 appears when trying to initialise Live Messenger. This started a couple of weeks ago, but up until today would still allow me access. Two-heads icon has now disappeared from my tray. Have tried Back up and Restore for an earlier date than today, but with no success. Am not computer literate at all, and need to know if anyone out there can guide me through what to do? I've noticed also that Windows Internet Explorer is not at it's optimum

- Hi Jenifer,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers!
This issue occurs if there is an invalid response from the server which is trying to load the page requested. This even happens when the server on the other side is down.
I would suggest you to try signing into the messenger from the Internet Explorer.
Based on my research, give a try on the following steps
1. Check whether you've any updates for your web messenger? If yes, go ahead and update it to the latest version.
2. Disable the Auto Tuning Networking feature
a. Click Start , click All Programs , click Accessories , and then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
b. Click Continue when Windows requests permission to continue.
c. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER : netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
Note: This command disables the Window Auto Tuning feature.
Now check whether you're able to sign in to your webmessenger.
If the above steps are of no help, visit the links.
Perform a clean boot

Perform a system restore
Note : Use the System Restore Tool

Let me know if this worked!
