unstable voloum playing music

When i am playing music the sound might suddenly drop in volume and then back up again, sometimes it gradually increases of its own accord, it is an intermittent problem and happens on and off, it suddenly developed after a windows update, i did a system restore to an earlier date before the update but it failed to resolve the problem, i removed the software for the sound card and then reinstalled it with the most recent drivers but the problem is still there

I am using the Hauppauge HD PVR hardware to record a HD/SD TV programs to my hard disc. The problem is, when I try to record a HD/SD program and the S/PDIF enabled. The screen goes black, and the sound stops!

I am running WINDOWS Vista x64 SP2.
I have got the latest updates according to ArcSoft update service.

In TotallMediaExtreme when I am recording a HD/SD program to my hard disc in stereo (AC-3/AAC digital sound) I don´t encounter any problems.
Screen resolution 1280x720 with a bitrate less than 13.5 Mbit/s and 2 digital sound channels, if I have a toslink cable connected to the HD PVR.
If I don´t connect the Toslink cable to the HD PVR and using 2 analog inputs instead, then I got 2 analog channels into my sound device.
So far so good!
The problems begins when I have enabledl the S/PDIF button on the screen in the ArcSoft program TotalMediaExtreme!
When I switch from the RCA button to the S/PDIF button, the screen black with a resolution of 720x480(from 720p to 480p) and no sound channels streams are detected !

I have an optical cable output from from the DVS-S receiver to HDPVR optical input and the HDPVR optical output goes to my Yamaha YSP-800 optical input.
I have also 2 analog sound signals to the back of the HDPVR plus the component videosignals (Y,Pr,Pb) to the HDPVR.
I hear the sound from the receiver in my Soundprocessor when I select the RCA button, but no sound in my Soundprocessor when I have selected the S/PDIF button.
My question is:
Is this problem related to Vista x64 or is it a HDCP case or is it a problem with my HW and SW installation?
Soundcard:Realtek latest release x64 that support up to 7.1 thru S/PDIF optical output.
Graphic card NVidia GeForce GT 230 with CUDA hardware acceleration and HDMI. HDCP compliant with my Sony LCD-TV.

so sometimes my itunes will just not play songs. ill double click a song and it wont play. it doesnt freeze and if i click a new song the name will appear but the time stops a 0.00 and doesnt move and there is no sound.
it happens to avg as well sometimes when i have a few shows on a playlist one will polay with sound and the ones that follow wont.
the only way i can fix it is by going on youtube and playing a song or avideo with audio and starting a song on itunes again or dragging a new show to avg.
its very frustrating to do this for every show in a playlist! sometimes it occurs the other way around and youtube wont work and ill have to open avg or itunes to make the internet audio play.
this doesnt happen all the time and i cant find anything that seems to trigger it.

HDMI Audio not working, HDMI Video working

I've used my HDMI connection regularly for 3 weeks. Today when I plugged the cable in to watch the web on my TV, explorer.exe froze up. I ended up restarting the computer. When the OS came back online, the video for the HDMI came in correctly, but the Audio doesn't show up even show up as an option for a playback device. This is very frustrating.

Error Code C00D0FAB. Has anyone ever produced a solution that works for this error code ??

I have tried all of the suggestions by contributors to this forum (and many thanks to them all for attempting to remedy a problem that bugs the ____ out of me), I have reloaded Windows Vista 3 times, imported various codec's and packages, attempted to download WMP again and was told I had the latest version, (WMP 11,) run various Malware programmes in Safe Mode, run sfc/scannow five times and I am still no closer to rectifying the problem with my WMP. My computer is a Compaq Presario running Vista Ultimate 32 bit version.
A response from any person that has actually found a working solution would be greatly appreciated.

I BURNED MY ORIGINAL TUNES ONTO MY LAPTOP (Vista system) and they automatically became wmp files. Now I can't download them onto the sites I need to download them onto. Sorry, but I hate Vista. Hate it. HELPME!!!!!

On 64-bit Vista with latest updates, in a hurry to catch a streaming signal with sound only in headphones, I disabled one of the entries in the Sound control panel, which was the laptop's speakers. This was done by selecting the item and selecting Disable from the right click menu. When I return to that panel to re-enable the speakers, they are no longer listed there, and are not found while doing a scan for hardware. How can the speakers be re-enabled?

The sound device is "SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio", and the computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad T61P.

Windows media player in Vista stopped working. All other media players such as Real Player continue to work perfectly. It seems not to be possible to deinstall and reinstall with the this operating system. All updates both for windows and the player are current. A system restore resulted in unstable operation and had be to be unrestored.

when i test the front headphone panel on my computer, it says it's working and it works when i test it but i cant hear any other sound through it

I had automatic downloads of album art, etc. disabled because I had an issue previously with Windows Media Player messing up all of my album art and I was afraid that since WMC and WMP are related, it might happen again. So I just found out about the internet TV thing I've been missing out on this week. I went into settings and enabled automatic downloads and clicked manual download, but all it does is reload the program guide listings. I have tried several times, including shutting down, rebooting, etc. in between. No internet TV option and nothing listed under "More TV" and "Online Media" except a news feed under the Sports section. I looked in the event viewer and did an SFC scan with nothing found other than failed recordings and some missing fonts. I also made sure that the firewall isn't blocking anything and that all of the WMC services are enabled. Any ideas? Am I too late to get this update? I do have the Vista automatic updates turned on, but that didn't help.

I have a dell,vostro1500 laptop, running WindowsVista HomeBasic. Its sound card is SigmaTel High Definition Audio.
I can`t record any sound by the means of internal Microphone.
When i turn on SpeechRecegntion there is no lightbar for the power of sound.
Also, when i want to setup call in my YahooMesenger(from Action icon),there is no color dots when i speek and this stage does`nt complete.

Any ideas? If wants more details let me know.

I have vista ultimate 64bit. My issue has to deal with Windows media player 11 popping up on its own whenever it wants and making it unable for me to play games surf the web or do work in general. When WMP pops up i cannot end it, i cant end the process it will jsut start back up on its own, i have done registry cleaner scanned for viruses even reinstalled it and i get the same issue. what am i to do? if i could block it from ever just starting up at all i would but ive tried searching the web looking for stuff adn all most people can come up with is msconfig.. well taht doesnt always work apparently.. even if i didnt know what exactly to stop.soemtimes it wont happen for a bit but when it does happen after ive restarted my computer it really hurts everything. this has been happening for a while and i finaly jsut got fed up with it to try adn find soem help. Can i get some help please?

Okay so I thought I had synced my Mp3 Player, a Samsung S3 to a friend's computer and copied music from a CD onto it...well now it says it's a write-protection file and I can't delete it. But because it's a CDA file, I can't listen to it either. So could someone please, please tell me how to remove these files from my Mp3 player? I'm in desperate need of help!!

Can someone please help me before I get the sack. I recently bought a new computer with Windows Vista Premium. I decided to re-design the website of a radio station I volunteer for. The site itself looks very nice but now no-one can 'listen live' to the station. I have never had this problem with Windows XP and I have tried everything possible to get it to work, but it doesn't. Now I'm getting into trouble with the radio station.

Any help you provide, I would be exytremely grateful.

Hi: Using Windows Vista. No sound ? Ran tests, speakers work. Nothing shows on any scans, not Norton, Windows Defender.... no updates on Windows Updates ? Apple says it is a microsoft problem... they asked me to install a patch from www.suport.microsoft.com/kb/290301 and this wouldn't install as well.

i have a hp slimline s3120n. i got it probably around janurary. ive been watching tv on it with a ViXS Pure TV-U 48A3 card. recently after not installing anything i turned it on and got an error from media center saying "Tuner Not Installed" I have tried all things on the hp help website

I am running WMP11 on Vista and streaming audio from Windows Home Server. I have media sharing enabled and when I open WMP11 on the client, the remote library is available (called User on ServerName ). Media is accessible i.e. I can play songs from the remote library. However, this only lasts for 15 minutes or so - the music stops and when I check, the library is gone. Closing down re-opening WMP11 restablishes the library but this is a frustrating and tedious practice. Can anyone shed any light as to what the problem might be?

Windows photo gallery is one of several programs I use while working with my photo files and I find it useful, is some instances more than the expensive programs. But it has stopped working and I'm looking for a fix, preferably without having to reinstall the operating system and having to reload everything on my hard drive. Anyone have any suggestions? I can still open files and edit them, just can't "go to the gallery".

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite with Vista 64 Home Premium, and when my battery got lot too low, it put the computer into hibernation. I plugged it in, and turned it back on. After booting up, the speakers didn't work at all. There was no sound on startup, or anything after it. I restarted the computer, and the problem persisted. I did every single thing I could find on every forum and Microsoft help site. All my sound cards work, all the volume levels are correct. I know that no sound after hibernation is a common problem, and I tried all the fixes that I had seen suggested. I tried the Fix-It download, and no problems were found to fix. I tried downloading an update from a Microsoft help page that was literally about the EXACT problem I was having, but when I opened it after it installed it said "This update does not apply to your system", even though I made sure I downloaded the 64 bit file and everything (it was called "Windows6.0-KB937077-x64").

What I desperately need is an answer I haven't seen yet. So before you post something you've already posted before, consider the options I've already tried, because I've probably already tried all of the basic solutions. My sound cards are enabled and working with no problems, I've tried Fix-It, I've tried restarting, I have the Service Pack 2 and have been using sound after it was installed, and I've tried downloading the exact patch that was meant to fix the problem but to no avail. Please, for the love of all that is holy, help.

I've seen some similar questions, but no answers that work...I'm hoping somebody can help.

I'm using a Phillips GoGear 2gb MP3 player that I've had for about a year, and the latest version of Windows Media Player. I also just installed whatever Windows Updates were availble. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium SP 1. I have been able to play and sync with this MP3 player just fine until today. When I plug it in, the device will not show up in windows media player. It will play the music in it, but it won't recognize it to sync to it. The computer knows it's plugged in, but it just never shows up as a device in WMP. I searched Phillips for updates, but I already have the latest driver, so with the latest version of everything, I'm wondering if something in the updates caused the problems. Any suggestions?

Hello!

I am trying to import a video I made in Windows DVD Maker (.msdvd) into Windows Movie Maker 6.0. I am running Vista Home Edition (x64).

I keep getting an error message that I need to download and install the codecs. The error message states: "The file cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your compter. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again."

Can you tell me where the codecs are located so that I can import the file I made in Windows DVD Maker into Windows Movie Maker?

My music I ripped from all my CDs is on an external drive and played fine, now when I try to play the music (which is in my library, displayed in WMP 11) I get an error message and the file won't play. If I copy the same file to the C: Drive it plays.

Audio line in problem

Audio plays through the line out when a sound file is played. When audio is played into line in, no sound. The control pannel shows line in selected as default device with a tick by it and indicating a signal. In properties for line in it is not muted. The volume mixer shows just two channels, headphones and Windows sounds both at maximum. How do I get the line in to play through ?

I have a Sony Vaio with Vista. I installed Itunes and updated my music, my playlists and preferences, but everytime I close the program and open it or re-boot my computer its like Itunes was being opened for the first time.

I have a Sony Vaio with Vista. The music has to be reloaded the playlists are all gone. I have tried to install every version of itunes that I could find but to no avail. In the itunes folder where the music is stored there are many temp files that keep getting generated. No matter how many times I setup itunes with music and playlists once I close the program its all gone. Any ideas?

My TV tuner was working great then all of a sudden it's not. Whenever I try to watch TV, I get "tuner not available. The tuner in currently in use by another application or is not working". There are no other programs running.
Not sure what is going on.

When i boot my computer the startup sound plays. Also when i run microsofts "fix it" program i hear that sound. And when i go into control panel >>> sounds >>> the speaker i use >> then advanced and press "test" a sound plays. But for some reason sound doesnt work for any other program. Youtube, itunes, videogames, etc.

The sound actually works through the headphone jack, but it wont come out through the speakers in my laptop anymore and I can't figure out why. Everything is turned up and the mute button isn't on, does anyone know why that might be happening?
