    Hello Les,

Thank you for using the forum.

By default, you can download more skins by opening Windows Media Player, clicking File, clicking View, clicking Skin chooser, and then clicking More Skins. You can download the skin that you prefer to open it. Then you can choose the skin listed in Skin chooser, and click Apply Skin.

As you mentioned that you can't apply the preferred skin in your computer, this may be due to damaged skin file or incompatible skin. To troubleshoot this issue, I would like to suggest propose the following suggestions:

    - Verify if this skin is compatible with edition of your Windows Media Player. As I know, some skins only support part editions of Windows Media Player.

    - Check if your account has administrative rights.

You can check/change this by following the steps listed from this article:

    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/74603287-0ee9-4470-9a4e-3d791f95f4c61033.mspx

Please verify whether your account has administrative rights.

If it does not, and you are the main user for this system, please add the administrative rights then restart your system and try to apply the skin again.

    Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. I'm starting to think that it is a compatibility problem.  I have administrative rights

One thing you can do is just delete the skins after using it and then download it again when you choose to use it again.  Sounds crazy, but that is the only thing that I can come up with thus far.

I had the same issue with WMP11 in XO as well. Here is the fix if you haven't already found it.
When the file is downloaded. Right click on it and click on properties and press the unblock button.
    That worked for me.
