When I invoke Vista's parental controls (block phornography & < teen rated games) itunes store does not work. The bar spins with no access to the store to download tunes. Is there a work around for this issue?  Honeslty, no one seems to know and I'm sure i'm not the only one with this issue?

Since the site you are trying to reach is launched through iTunes.  Try the following:

Click the 'Start button' > Select 'Control Panel'
    Click 'User Accounts and Family'
Click 'Setup Parental Controls for Any User' > Select 'Appropriate User'
Click 'Allow and Block Specific Programs'

You will then have to choose "User can use all programs" or "Only programs that I allow"

If you choose "Only Programs that I Allow" then you will have to specify every program by putting a check mark in the box next to the appropriate program.

If you don't get a choice for iTunes, you will have to select browse at the bottom left of the screen, and browse to the iTunes directory and add the iTunes .exe file.

    Please advise.

    Cheers

    Hello Tornado50,

Thank you for your post.  You can get this to work by adding the following website to the allowed websites in the Windows Vista Web Filter setting for the user who has parental controls enabled:

    http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net

    Get to the setting by:

    1. Click the 'Start Orb' > Click 'Control Panel' > Click 'User Accounts and Family Safety' > Click 'Setup Parental Controls for Any User'
    2. Click the appropriate user
    3. Click 'Windows Vista Web Filter'
    4. Click 'Edit the Allow and Block List'
    5. Enter http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net and click the 'Allow' button
    6. Click OK (3times)

Please let us know if this did or didn't resolve your issue.  We look forward to hearing back from you.

    Cheers

I have same issue as tornado50 and tried the fix described. Unfortunately, this didn't solve it. My problem relates to a UK based itunes a/c if that makes a difference.

    Any ideas / suggestions ?

After upgrading to iTunes 9.0, I could not access iTunes Store when MS VISTA parental controls were set.
The controls were only for time limits, no web restrictions!

When I turn off all parental accounts, I can access iTunes Store.

    Hello Ljoye,

Did you perform the steps that Dude_Lebowski outlined?  If so, and were still unsuccessful, you can try adding the two sites below to the allow list.

Another UK user here.  Those websites don't work either Jason.

    Ptay39,

The sites that I posted are from other forums that I have researched.  If these aren't working for you, I would advise that you contact Apple Support for a possible solution.  I have linked their support page below.

Did Jason H's solution work for anyone?  I am experiencing the same issues: iTunes Store doesn't work with Parental Controls, does work without, doesn't work with all of the suggested web sites allowed, does not work with all web filtering turned off.  The suggestion above to use "Only Programs that I Allow" and explictly selecting iTunes also did not fix it.  It was marked as an answer so that had my hopes up, but I'm skeptical that this would really solve the issue.

If anybody has any luck getting an answer out of Apple please post.  Thanks.

I have also tried all of the recommended "fixes"  but nothing works!  I do not wish to give up all control by shutting down parental controls -  will this issue be resolved with Windows 7 ??

Just to say that I also have this problem to keep this in the spotlight in the hope that someone from Microsoft or Apple will take note (unlikely!)
