AnswerConnecting Vista Media Center and my Xbox 360 extender

Hi I am having a problem connecting my xbox 360 and my windows vista media center. Every time I try I get the message saying that it cannot find the extender and suggests that it is one of the follwoing three things

    1) The extender is on and connected to the network

It is on and it appears as an xbox 360 icon in my network on the vista machine and can connect to the internet so I assume is on the network just fine.

    2) That the code is correct

It is I have checked it about 30 or so times now.

    3) UPnP is not working correctly

I assume this is the issue but can't figure out how to solve it. I have a BT Homehub router. I have set it up with UPnp enabled. I have even tried disabling the firewall completely on it and on vista, this has made no difference so port forwarding doesn't seem to be the answer.

Help please as this is one of the main reasons I got an xbox 360 and vista

    Paul.

Your router may have a setting for "Filter Multicast. If so, turn that off in the router configuration.

You may also have a second MAC address assigned to the X-Box.

Remove the secondary MAC address in the System section of the Xbox 360 dashboard

    1. Network Settings
    2. Edit Settings
    3. Advanced Settings Tab
    4. Advanced Settings
    5. Alternate MAC Address
    6. Clear the MAC Address using the on-screen keyboard, then select Done.
    7. Click Done and test the Xbox live connection.
    8. Exit to the system section of the dashboard.
    9. Click computers,  Media Center, disconnect

    Add the extender from Vista
