Device Drive Software not sucessfully installed -Code 39- Optiarc DVD +-RW AD 7580A ATA Device

Need Help !
Recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop using Vista operating system.
The DVD +-RW Device was working but has recently failed.
The Device Manager locates the Driver which is Optiarc DVD +-RW AD 7580A ATA Device
The Device Manager has a (-) marker which tells me the driver is not working.
I tried to update this driver but message received is "most recent driver already installed".
I opted to uninstall driver and restarted system.
Upon restart, system attemped to reinstall driver for my CD Rom.
I then received message " Drive device software was not sucessfully installed".
Also received message "Wndows cannot load the device for this hardware. Code 39"
At present my CD Rom device will not work.
I would appreciate anyone who has a solution to this problem.

Keyboard on Laptop locked up

the keyboard on my Admin id is locked up. I can use the computer with my non-admin id. I may have hit a hot key or something to lock it up while using the Admin id. I have shut down & re-booted a few times with no luck.

the touch pad on my mouse is driving me crazy, and for some reason i can no longer turn it off the way i was able to before it was sent to be wiped.

i recently had my laptop taken in to have a virus removed, when i got it back everything had been reset, including the touch pad that i had originally turned off for writing purposes. (I like using the buttons anyways to click on something, not the touch pad) But now when i go into the control pad and go to mouse hardware, it isn't the same as it was, and i cant just click it off. the option doesn't even exist anymore, and i HATE writing with the touchpad on because i accidentally graze the pad and don't notice that it clicked on the sentence above. how do i fix this now?
I have gone online and had this answered but it didn't work, they told me to go to the driver and disable it, i did and it seems to have done nothing!

Well i think you are already aware that this is a very familiar problem these days it has been infected with all new ATi and nVIDA graphics cards and chipsets. Well i have assembled a brand new PC with most high end configrations on a msi board with the AMDs 790GX chipset on it. Like i said its also a problem with Ati and this chipset has an ATi GPU integrated. So while running games some times my system crashes , BSODs ,Black out , and keeps giving me the error "diplay driver has stopped responding and has recovered successfully". Now im really pissed off i havent spend my money to see this.
PLEASE dont tell me to contact the system manufacture and update it with the Lateset drivers and VBIOS, i have alredy tried that out.
nothing helps those people seem confused more than i am.
Well i tried dissassembling the whole Windows Vista Display system from hal.dll to display output through atimdag. After cracking my head for months reprogramming, modifing and reconstructing i give up. Its all waste.

New RAM Not Recognzied

Greetings,

I just removed a 1 GB stick of RAM, and replaced it with a 2 GB stick (DDR2 PC-5300 667MHz/533MHz), so now my laptop has two 2 GB sticks (4 GB total). However, Control Panel's Welcome Center still says that I have 3 GB of RAM.

I updated my Windows Experience Index, and my Memory score went from 4.9 to 5.7, but the Welcome Center still says that I have 3 GB of RAM. How can I get windows to recognize the RAM I just put in?

Ok, so im running Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP G7000 notebook.
I recently got a flash drive from a friend who who wanted me to put music on it. I wanted to copy about 200 songs on to it. It copied everything without errors, but only the first three songs were copied properly with all the information intact (i.e - album, artist, artwork etc), all the others didn't copy properly and couldn't be played. The above mentioned info was missing. There's no virus's and i don't think it's the driver's. I tried copying to my flash drives and it worked, i then got another flash drive from a friend and same problem. HELP!!

I have connected by Sony DVR-TRV22 to my Vista machine and it not longer recognized the device and when it searches the system for the driver Vista can not find it. Sony support indicated that the driver was shipped with Vista. I used it about a year and a half ago, but since then have had many automated updates. Please let me know where I can get the Vista driver so I can transfer my vedio to Movie Maker.

Just installed Vista 64bit on my system and have encountered 2 main
problems.
The first is the one about Vista not installing with 2gb(2x1gb) of memory,
yep had that problem, but when I re-install the second 2 sticks of 1gb the
intenet locks out.
as in it shows that I'm connected to my router, but my router is not
connected to the internet. (I have a second computer running from the same
router that is still seeing and accessing the internet at that time).
I have tried a pair of 512mb as well. All stick are PC3200 DDR 400mhz.

Second problem is the SATA drives:
on XP I was able to plug/unplug my SATA Hdrives whilst my computer is still
running, and also use an internal hot-shoe caddy!
Since changing to vista, I have to reboot my machine to see the Hdrive after
plugging it in!!

then it says it is installing driver device software.
then it says it encountered an error while attempting to install it.

i have a acer computer with vista and all up dates problem i have is hard drive runs all the time and light never goes out.. one day i started computer and never loaded any programs hard drive was running , i come home 4 hours later and hard drive still running light not going out. if on the net when this happens like running second life it causes the program to run bad slow and net connection to any other program to run very slow also or even log up for while . HOw can i fix this???

Windows Vista DVI to HDMI no display on HDTV

I have a mac mini from 2008 on which I have put windows Vista via boot camp. I have connected the mini using DVI to HDMI, to my Sony Bravia 1080p HDTV.

When I log into the mac 10.6.2, all seems fine and I can see the display alright.

When I log into Windows Vista, I cannot. The display stays black even though I hear the Windows startup sound.

I tried force-upgrading to Windows 7 and the same thing. In fact at some point I can see some of the stuff (like when starting in safe mode), but as soon as it boots up, the display goes blank.

Normally I can see the display up to the point where it says loading Microsoft windows (with the small progress bar) and then, nothing.

Any clues what may be happening?

USB Ports not responding!

Hi, im having a big problem with my computer, it is a Dell XPS 420 running windows vista home basic, and just recently my USB Ports (All 8) Stopped working, now i know there not fried because i still use them to load up my bios and all, but the minute the my operating system loads and gets to the log in screen, i cant do anything! I really dont want to reinstall my operating system, i do have all the discs needed, is there anyways i can fix this without reinstalling, please i need help!

All USB optical mouse(s) are not being detected on my laptop.

Windows does not even acknowledge that they exist when I plug them in - not even a warning message or anything, and none of them were listed in Device Manager at all (not even as an Unknown Device). Power is still supplied to them, however (the LEDs lights up). All other USB devices works just fine. There are no PS/2 ports on my laptop.

It started 3 days ago after the laptop woke up from sleep mode - the mouse I was using worked perfectly fine before then. No settings were changed immediately prior to the incident - it was just sitting there, idling.

Attempted fixes so far:

Tried accessing the BIOS to switch on/off support for USB legacy - there were no such options there
Tried all the ports with three different optical mice - none had so much as their existence acknowledged.
Tried deleted USB root hubs in Device Manager and scanning for hardware changes so they are reinstalled - nothing.
Tried using the mice in Safe Mode - still not detected at all.

The touchpad still works, as per the in-built keyboard. In fact, I'm typing this out with the laptop in question.

Stick is recognized in other vista and xp systems. Tried all usb ports. My USB ports recognize wirless mouse and other memory sticks.

I have been trying for a week to solve this printer problem, and nothing that I do seems to do any good.

I'm running Vista Home Premium (it doesn't say anything about 64, so I'm assuming it's the 32-bit version) on a Dell Inspiron 1545.

I have tried letting windows install the printer automatically by plugging it into the USB, no results.

I have tried downloading all three available drivers from the Lexmark website, uninstalled each and rebooted before installing my next attempt, with the 32-bit being the first. I have installed and uninstalled all of them multiple times, no results.

I've tried running Windows Fix It and installing the drivers, no results.

The installer from the website seems to close itself before it's complete, but it acts as if it's installed, only with nothing working, and it still says there is no printer installed. When I browse for the driver to install it through windows add printer, it pulls up error 0x0000007e.

I contacted Lexmark and got remote assistance. The woman tried a lot of different things and worked on my computer for nearly two hours with no results, and she told me that it seems the print spooler is corrupt. I've ran RegCure numerous times to repair any registry errors, and still, no results.

Any advice at all? I've tried everything I can think of, and I'm ready to switch to Linux, but it's my girlfriend's computer and she won't let me. I need the scanner for work, and she needs the printer for school, but I can't get the damn thing to work, and it is extremely frustrating. Please help.

When I wake up the computer from the sleep mode, my mouse is frozen. I then have to unplug the computer in order to reboot. I am using the Vista system.

I am currently using the operating sytem Windows Vista Home Premium and recently my CD/DVD drive has stopped working. It will work and read any DVD I put in, but if I try to put a media CD in- it won't read or even show up in the drive. The drive continues to say that it is working properly even though it won't read my CD's. I've have tried many things and really need to know how to fix this problem.

My CD/DVD Player/Burner has disappeared from my computer. I have looked in device manager and found nothing, managed the computer and got nothing, used Microsoft Fixit and gotten no where, and I have gone into the registry to try to delete the Upper/Lower filters, but I see them no where. It worked one day and then the next it didn't. I don't know what to do!! I have an Acer Aspire 5520, with an Optiarc drive.

On my Dell XPS M1330 notebook computer, the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook 5000 mouse does not load quite often after booting the computer. The only fix is to go back into Control Panel delete the mouse and re-pair the device. This happens several times a week. Running Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS with Service Pack 2.

RGB-PC cable plugged in between comp. & TV. Comp screen displays on TV using Ubuntu, not Vista. Any ideas? It worked once before but there have been automatic updates since then.

After about one year and a half after buying a Dell desktop PC it quit starting up after I leave it on all night. ( hit enter or touch mouse) Now I have to shut it down after every use. Then hit button on tower to start it up. If I leave it on for awhile then touch mouse or hit enter. A black page comes up with a running blue lights with the words resuming windows. I have look up this on the internet and Yahoo answers and still have this problem. My PC is the Home version 32 bit.

I've seen other similar questions on the forum, but none of them seem to fit my exact situation. All of the answers are "make sure your printer is shared" or "make sure your firewall isn't blocking something" or "make sure your network is set up right", etc. and none of those things are my problem here.

I have a Canon printer hooked up to PC on my network running XP Pro SP3 but I can't seem to print to that printer from my 64-bit Vista Ultimate PC over the network because it keeps telling me that "The server for the 'Canon MP780 Series Printer' printer does not have the correct driver installed. If you want to search for the proper driver, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network adminstrator or original equipment manufacturer for the correct printer driver." So I've installed the correct 64-bit Vista driver from Canon on my 64-bit Vista machine, but when I hit "OK" on the above message it says it can't find it and I can't locate it by browsing to where I think it downloaded.

Like I said; the problems aren't with my network setup or permissions. When I go look at what's on my network from my 64-bit Vista machine, I can see the XP machine AND the Canon printer hooked up to it, so I know my 64-bit Vista PC knows it's there; it just won't connect to it without a driver, but yet I can't seem to install a driver any place where Vista can find it.

It's puzzling that the error message above says that the "SERVER for the [Canon] Printer does not have the correct driver". Does that mean I have to put a new driver on my XP machine (the one to which the printer is connected)? It doesn't seem to need a new driver since it prints fine, both from the XP PC to which it's connected and from another 32-bit Vista machine that is also on my home network (I had no problem getting it to recognize the printer and print to it without having to install new drivers). I can't install 64-bit drivers on my XP machine, so what driver am I supposed to install on my "Server" (the XP machine) to make this work? I'm getting very frustrated with something that doesn't seem like it should be that tough.

Hi,

We have a shared hp 1100 printer off a 64 bit machine. Once I set it up the first time, it printed well for say the first few days or weeks. It would then just stop printing for whatever reason. No error code returned on client or anything. I try rebooting the client machine and also restart the printer and the printer host machine for good measure, but nothing prints. Only when we reinstall the driver on the host machine and then reconnect to that printer on the clients does that start working again but then goes out.

I have noticed that the host pc sharing the printer is set for Automatic IP addressing. Should that be set static and i start all over again with a clean install of the printer? Any other remedies? Thanks again.

Every time i restart the computer I loose comminication with my Dell 720 Printer. After I loose comminication I reload the printer driver and try the restart again. I then get the same issue. What is causing this? Please help. This computer is only a yeear old. Thanks in advance.

HP 7310 driver install - error 0x00000eb

When trying to install an HP 7310 printer on a network, the printer is recognised but the program will not install the driver. I have one laptop running Windows 7, and the printer, connected to the network by ethernet cable. That all works fine. The problem is with my Vista laptop. It works fine on the network apart form this and is connected wirelessly. I keep getting errorr 0x00000eb. I have tried all the suggestions I have found by google searches and all those suggested so far by HP including trying to configure a separate port and disabling firewall and antivirus and doing a clean boot.

I am having startup issues after installing the current updated driver for my nvidia geforce 8400 GS graphics card.

I have tried everything from restores to just uninstalling the driver and uninstalling the drivers makes it able to boot up no problem. but to do this i always have to go to safe mode. the card has worked fine in the past and as a matter of fact just satrted this on sunday. i go through the steps to install the driver and when it tells me to reboot the system i get to the screen where the windows logo should be appearing but instead i get a black screen.

In speaking with Dell printer tech folks, I was informed that I have to reload Vista operating again. They were not able to fix the problem even after taking command of my PC, upgrading Bios, deleting temporary files, reinstalling the printer drivers, etc. Please advise.

Everytime I downlad and install windows update it causes problem's with my printers. They don't spool. When I try to open the printers window I get (not responding) message.

Hi...I've been selling misc. items on ebay for about a year and uploading pictures has never been a problem until just recently. What happens is this: in placing the add, the option comes up to add pictures - I click on that, the browser window comes up and I add the pictures I need - everything is fine until upoading the pictures to ebay - after they upload, an error message and flag comes up saying "pictures not optimal" and they appear blotchy. I've been doing everything the same for a year and this problem just started; I use new, good cameras - 8 and 10 megs - someone said that it might be an accelerator program which compresses images for faster loading - if that's the case do I just uninstall that program?????.......HELP!

Ever since I mounted an image file off of my external USB hard drive using Daemon Tools Lite, and accidentally removed the external hard drive before stopping the device, I have been getting this error whenever opening ANY program, when the screen saver starts up, or anything involving the hard drive.

I have tried disconnecting the removable hard drive and I have uninstalled Daemon Tools Lite, but I still get the error. It happens all the time and my programs still work, but Windows Vista gives me this error before actually loading the program. When I start up the computer with the external hard drive connected, I get a Blue Screen stating that it can not find "drive\device\harddisk 4\dr4", and it begins dumping the physical memory.

I have tried opening Windows Computer Management/Disk Management and changing the drive letter of the external hard drive, but I still get the error.

Also, I don't know if this is the cause of the problem, but I will mention that in Disk Management, in the list of drives, my internal hard drive (Disk 0) is split into two partitions: 7.07 GB "Healthy (EISA Configuration)", and
225.81 GB NTFS "Healthy (System, Boot, Page File, Actve, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)". The 225 GB partition has the volume label "SW_Preload" and is assigned to drive letter C:, while the 7 GB partition has no volume label or drive letter assigned to it, and therefore has no option to add or change a label or drive letter. I don't know if that is the true cause of the conflict or not, but I am suspicious because I can't access the 7 GB partition anywhere, don't know what it's for, and I can not assign a drive letter or volume label to it. I figured that might have something to do with the error, because it seems odd, and I still get the error even when the external hard drive is not plugged into the computer.

I know this seems to be a common issue with Vista, but I have tried all of the "fixes" for it and I still get the error. Hopefully you can help me solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

My laptop "mouse panel" responds to "tapping" at the slightest touch, and makes my computer almost unusable. When computer was delivered, I was able to disable this unwelcome feature and autoscrolling, another unwelcome action.
Now, it seems microsoft has installed a very unwelcome driver without notifying me of its interference with my use. My computer is a Toshiba A215-s4747 pointing device is identified simply as ALPS device
How can I get back my "simple use" device?

Default printer disappears

I work as an administrator. I have a user who is running Vista and has two HP network printers installed on her machine. Every few days, the default printer will be lost, leaving no default present at all. The printers themselves remain, but neither of them is selected as a default.

I've tried updating the drivers, that didn't change the situation. We originally thought it had something to do with her using Remote Desktop from time to time, but that appears to not affect the situation either. She appears to be the only one with this issue, despite the fact we have others running a similar configuration.

when i try to update it it says

but the litte yellow triangle remains

and also just below 6t04 adapter there is a yellow triangle next to isatap.home and the same message come back for that after i try to update it

Flash Drive

I know the answer to this is something that I am going to kick myself for.

For some reason when I plug in a Flash drive to my PC it does not come up on the list as an available drive. No issues with my blackberry or iPod being recognized so I know it is no the USB itself.

What am I missing??
