- This error code comes up every time i try to run a backup! It tells me i need "Full Control" as an administrator. Which i already have. I have ran "SpyBot, EsetNOD32, Hijacker and it still remains. Grrrr......What is this nasty Malware or Adware, etc...... That has control of my back-up initiation file and won't ALLOW me to back-up to my externel WD 500GB hard drive. - Hello mrf4530, welcome.
Is this external drive physically hooked up to your computer or is it shared on another?
Let us know,
Thanks! - yES IT IS A "wESTERN dIGITAL" EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE 500gb. This problem just started 5 days ago.
FRUSTRATED :-{
MRF - It is also Mapped and shared
- Is it shared from another system or is it connected to yours and you are sharing it out?
If it IS being hosted from ANOTHER system, what operating system is on that machine?
Thanks!- Edited bysu airodump-ng -c Friday, July 24, 2009 8:24 PM
- YES ! it is directly connected to my dell 519 (os:) windows vista home premium. this not a busines , but my one and onlt home tower pc connetedd to an external wesrtern digital hard drive via usb for more storage and for sysytem back-ups!
MRF If its been only happening for 5 days, I would suggest trying a System Restore to see if it fixes the issue:
STEPS TO PERFORM A SYSTEM RESTORE1. Click START
2. Click 'All Programs'
3. Click 'Accessories'
4. Click 'System Tools'
5. Click 'System Restore'Follow the prompts to restore your system back about a few days before
the problem started and see if that resolves your issues. System restore will revert back
any negative system settings.
Let us know if this works- Well I rtried that too. .... and it is still happening but I shall try it again as per your adviceThanks
- Try this:
STEPS TO CHANGE SECURITY PERMISSIONS ON A SHARE
1. Go to 'Computer'
2. Right click the shared external drive and select 'Properties
3. Click on the 'Security' tab
4. Click on the 'Edit' button
5. Click the 'Add' button
6. Type in the large box, 'everyone' (without quotes) and click the 'Check Names' button
7. If the system accepts it, the word 'everyone' will become underlined
8. Click 'OK'
9. 'Everyone' should be highlighted in the list now. Checkmark the 'Full Control' checkbox and click 'Apply'
10. Restart your computer
Then try to run a backup - Hi, I did what you said and created everyone and checked "FULL CONTROL" for it. I also checked all of the names listed and two did not have "FULL CONTROL" now everyname has "FULL CONTROL". I then reboted and guess what. When I clicked on "details" for why its not backing up to WD usb external hard drive I got that same ERROR CODE: (0x8100002A)! Gosh You are really a good guy in helping me. However THIS thing is driving me absolutly NUTZ. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
PLEASE TRY AND HELP AGAIN....... :-(...... I guess its time for the old "SYSTEM RESTORE"
ps: Isn't there a way to restore the system WITHOUT loosing all of my files??????

MITCH - I have the same error when trying to back up files to a shared drive on another computer running Windows XP Pro.
Any tip would be greately appreciated.
hz - I have the same issue with Windows 7, backing up to a shared and mapped network drive connected via USB to my WiFi homehub.
I've given 'Everyone' 'Full Control' many times, clicking 'Apply', but each time the permissions change back the next time I visit 'Security'.
I am an 'Administrator'. What to I have to do to make the 'Security' settings stick?
