Trouble Connecting an Xbox 360 Controller to Vista PC
- I'm having troubles with connecting and installing it. I've downloaded the program that it shows on the Help page but my computer doesn't recognize the controller as being a Gaming Controller. Perhaps I downloaded the wrong drivers or something. Please any Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

- Fookmeruning,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.
Exactly which controller are you trying to connect? Is it wired or wireless? Is it made by Microsoft or a third party? Check the Vista compatibility site to make sure your controller is Vista ready and see if there are any downloads needed:

Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think. - It's a wireless controller that I was connecting via a plug and play kit. It's a Microsoft controller. And I've already downloaded the software for it, but when I plug the controller in it starts looking for drivers and when it "finds" them the computer doesn't recognize the controller as a game controller on the game controller option in the Control Panel. And thus I can't get it to connect to the program that I downloaded from the Microsoft website.
- I'm having the exact same problem. Mine installs the drivers and says the 360 controller is ready to go. Yet, vista doesn't recognize the controller. My controller is also through the plug and play kit.
- I' having exactly the same problem. I found a link on Microsoft.com that supposedly brings me to a link to download the Playing software for vista. But the problem is the link brings me to a blank page that only says"Here's the software available for your product. Follow the link to download it." No link or anything. Any help would be great!
P.S. heres the site with the F***ed up link.

- Hello, might be running into the same problem as a lot of people. I've my 360 wireless plugged into vista 32bit using a plug and charge kit. Did the whole auto install and the controller showed up in my devices as a Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class. Tried the few driver downloads that I could find including the ones mentioned here and still can't get it to show up in my Game Controllers. Anything I'm doing wrong possibly or does the wireless version with the charge kit not work even if its detected?
Thanks for any advice or information with this project :) - I didnt have any trouble plug and playing the controller but im really pissed off as you can not use it with Modern warfare 2 on a pc nor loads of other games WTF !!!! ???? Pass it around!
