Installing Age of Empires III on a Vista based ComputerI am having trouble installing this game (AOE III) on my computer which is a Windows Vista 64-bit based computer.
I have previously used it with Windows XP. I dont know what version it is and if that would make a difference. I brought the game a few months after it initially came out.

When I inserted the cd into the drive, a window pops up indicated that there is a compatibility issue. I tried using the compatibility wizard but it doesnt work. Please, Can anyone offer some help? Thank you.© 2009 Microsoft Corporation. Age of Empires III on a Vista based ComputerThank you Mohan for your deligent responses. I downloaded and installed the Windows Vista Service pack 2 (KB948465) and verified that it was installed by checking my computer's system. In step 3, I attempted to install AOE III and came up with the same compatibility issues as before. I also tried using the Compatibilitty Wizard again, but no luck. I restored my computer back to its normal startup routine.Fri, 10 Jul 2009 05:44:08 Z2009-07-10T05:45:24Zhttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/thread/60cf084a-4c94-46ac-83e5-1fe1a83da8bc#c12f2637-cf59-4902-a196-e19ab0f56ebfhttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/thread/60cf084a-4c94-46ac-83e5-1fe1a83da8bc#c12f2637-cf59-4902-a196-e19ab0f56ebfjlluitjhttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=jlluitjInstalling Age of Empires III on a Vista based ComputerHello summerbreeze, Can I request a screenshot of the compatibility error please?

Prntscreen open paint paste > save as jpg, then upload it to your live account or an external image hosting website

jlluitj
Josh Luitjens - Self-taught computer tech.Fri, 10 Jul 2009 05:46:34 Z2009-07-10T05:46:34Zhttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/thread/60cf084a-4c94-46ac-83e5-1fe1a83da8bc#f09e99f0-a479-4449-a242-088b67e789bahttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/thread/60cf084a-4c94-46ac-83e5-1fe1a83da8bc#f09e99f0-a479-4449-a242-088b67e789baSummerbreezehttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=SummerbreezeInstalling Age of Empires III on a Vista based Computer
Hi jlluitj:

I will try to provide you with screen shots of the message, but how would I load them to this forum for your review?
Fri, 10 Jul 2009 12:33:19 Z2009-07-10T12:33:19Zhttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/thread/60cf084a-4c94-46ac-83e5-1fe1a83da8bc#a673e7ba-85c9-466e-9c35-c8c7bfd0b16ehttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/thread/60cf084a-4c94-46ac-83e5-1fe1a83da8bc#a673e7ba-85c9-466e-9c35-c8c7bfd0b16eMohan - Microsoft Supporthttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Mohan%20-%20Microsoft%20SupportInstalling Age of Empires III on a Vista based Computer
Hi Summerbreeze,

Loading screenshot is not possible on Forum website; however you may try any of the Image Hosting Server’s and paste the link in your next post/response.

E.g.: http://imageshack.us/

Mohan

Microsoft Answers Support Engineer

Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
Fri, 10 Jul 2009 17:55:50 Z2009-07-10T17:55:50Zhttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/thread/60cf084a-4c94-46ac-83e5-1fe1a83da8bc#a1764ff5-c8aa-4e91-b529-152ac1c94baahttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/thread/60cf084a-4c94-46ac-83e5-1fe1a83da8bc#a1764ff5-c8aa-4e91-b529-152ac1c94baaSummerbreezehttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=SummerbreezeInstalling Age of Empires III on a Vista based Computer
Hi Mohan:
I have uploaded the screenshots to Imageshack at http://profile.imageshack.us/user/summer_xbreeze/
Hope this helps.
