    Hi Henry,

this is a Punkbuster issue, you may get help in the forums at http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=support.php

This has happened to several users before (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Windows+API+Function+131134&btnG=Google+Search ), one time it was a DVD copy protection called 'Alpha-DVD', then other programs running and so on.

    Hi Henry2007,

Thanks for posing on Microsoft Answers forum.

The cause for the issue is :
     a) The DVD copy protection "Alpha-DVD"
     b) software named “Blink” which is installed on the computer.

Try the following steps to resolve the issue:
    Scenario 1:
If you have recently watched a DVD on your computer that installed this copy protection, I would suggest you to uninstall it first.

Please use the following tool to remove the software
    http://www.sophos.com/products/free-tools/...otkit/download/

    Scenario 2:
If you have Blink installed on the computer, then you can try the following steps:

    1. In Blink go to View>Options...
    2. Click the Application Protection tab.
    3. Select Monitor and log only.
    4. Reboot (this is required).
    5. Turn off Application Protection.

NOTE: If this error occurs in Call of Duty 4 Steam/Valve version, disabling steam community fix might as well work in this scenario.

I would suggest you to disable steam community by following the below mentioned steps:

    1. Right clicking the steam icon in the bottom right hand corner.

    2. Click settings.

    3. Go to the tab in-game.

    4. Uncheck the box Enable Steam Community In-game.

    5. Hit ok.

Let me know if the issue is fixed.

    Regards,

I have also had this problem for about a week now.  The only thing is i have recently rebuilt my machine and i don't have Blink or Alpha-DVD installed.  I also downloaded and ran the sophos anit-rootkit and found nothing.  If you have any other ideas please let me know.

Make sure that PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe can pass through your firewall.

Also several 3rd party processes (like ituneshelper.exe, nvvsvc.exe, ...) were reported to cause problems.

I allowed them through and closed the 3rd party processes but still no luck.  I'm starting to think my computer hates me.  Thanks for your help.

Use the punkbuster support forum or do a google search.

As i said i have a simlar problem, but I didn't care much about it because only a few AA3 servers are using punkbuster.

So I can't really help you, sorry.

     Answer
thanks for all your help Mumble but i found the problem.  It was the latest version of Threatfire that was blocking the connection and causing PB to come up with the error.

I too have a problem with the unknown Windows API Function 131134 error.  this is in BF2142.  I don't have either "Alpha-DVD" or “Blink”.  I have updated PB, even uninstalled and reinstalled and ran the update.  I disabled my Threatfire thinking maybe what Jordan indicated helped would help me as well.  Still nothing.  About a minute into the game I get kicked with the same 131134 error.

This occurred on my home and office PC's right after I installed AA3.  I have since uninstalled AA3, but if it was the culprit it left some nugget behind.

    Any suggestions or recommendations?

    Thank you
