AnswerTrying to download iTunes but my computer won't stay on.

I have Vista.  I'm trying to download a movie on iTunes.  I changed the settings to where the screensaver doesn't come on for several hours.  But for some reason it seems to hibernate.  The screen goes black, the main "on button" blinks orange and makes me push it to turn the screen on.  Then I have to log back onto my account and the download has stopped.  How can I get my computer to stay on while the download is active?

    Hi Jilly Jill,

it’s a power saver program all of the computers are equipped with in Windows Vista. It "sleeps" when inactive. But if you choose the Hibernate option, your computer will shut down but you won’t lose any data and when restarted returns to the state when it shut down. In the “Sleep mode” it loses all data if it is shut down. We are saving more power with the Hibernate option.

    You can check these options:

è Start up options - hibernate - shut down -screen saver password
è Click on start at bottom of screen in blue bar (task bar)
    è Click on control panel
    è Choose power options
è Click never to all listed there or the Settings you want
è Choose apply then choose ok

è If you want to hibernate then choose hibernate
    è Click Advanced Choose hibernate
    è then click hibernate
    è Click Enable Hibernate

(NOTE: You can also select disable according to your choice)

è Make sure you click apply and ok to everything

è Also click advanced tab choose show icon on desk top
then you can push power button and windows will close

è Push button again and you are where you were again
Computer does not have to do all that work again

èPassword protected screen saver is good too. Follow these steps:

    1.      Close all windows

    2.      Right click on open area of desktop

    3.      Choose properties

    4.      Choose screen saver

    5.      Choose password protect on resume

    6.      This will be your password as you are the administrator

    7.      Be sure to set the time for screen saver to come on

    8.      Or and press the windows key logo + L at the same time located on the keyboard
to lock it. When you unlock it will ask for password.

Once you lock it your download does not stop.
