Cannot do anything because this highlighted box is right in middle of view

Hello smusee,

Thank you for posting. Let’s try booting into Safe Mode and see if you get the box in safe mode as well.

How to boot your system into Safe Mode…

1. Restart your computer if it is powered on.

2. Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.

3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.

4. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.

5. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.

6. You should see drivers loading, and then Please wait.

7. You should then be at the Welcome Screen.

8. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.

If you are able to see your screen in safe mode I would recommend that you update your Display Adapter (video card) drivers. Go to either your OEM website or, if this is a home built machine, go to the video card manufacturers website and obtain the most current drivers. If this doesn’t get rid on the box then, if possible, try connecting a different monitor to this machine to see if the box goes away. If that doesn’t work, and you are comfortable opening the case, you can try removing and reseating the video card. NOTE: You will need to make sure that opening the case does not void your OEM manufacturer’s warranty. If these suggestions do not get rid of this message it could indicate a problem with your hardware in which case you will need to contact your manufacturer to find out your options.
