?What do my all of my program icons have this logo on them?
- Hi, I am using Windows Vista Home basic. My problem today is sheerly cosmetic, yet annoying. All of my program icons on my desktop have this annoying white piece of paper with the corner folded down blocking most of the icon it self. I was wondering if there was any way to get the icons to appear normal. If you don not know what I'm talking baout, please check out this image. Desktop.
Thank you, and any help is greatly appreciated! :-)

Hello Jarrod Smith,
Thank you for choosing Microsoft answers forums for Windows Vista. I hope you are doing well.
Please let us know since when are you facing the issue?
Did you install any new program recently or when you started noticing it showing up or did you install any program prior to that?
Apart from that, you can try the following steps:
1. I would suggest you to perform a system restore.Follow the below link for more details as in how to perform a system restore:

2. Before that try performing a clean boot:
To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

3. If nothing works, you can try running an online scan. Refer the link below:
Hope this information is useful.
Thank you.

- no all my icons have the windows logo on them and the name of the icon under them
- Hi,
Try this: Open Windows Explorer to:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local
Where <user> is your username. Locate the iconcache.db file here and delete it. If you cannot see it, then you need to change tools/folder options/view tab to see hidden and system files. Once deleted, close all applications and restart the system.
Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org - The following tutorial might be able to help you. It is about rebuilding your icon cache.
