    Hi, Zelman H!

You should get a third-party partition manager. From who I know, they use either Partition Magic or Acronis Disk Director. You could also try to find a free alternative that suites you.

    Hope this helps!

    Hello, Zelman

Thank you for choosing the Answers Forum!

Depending on your setup, you may be able to do this from within the Windows Disk Management.

Modifying the hard drive settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of the hard drive partition can be solved. Modifications of these settings are at your own risk.

First, I would recommend you backup your data to external media just to be safe. For information regarding backups please refer to the following link: Methods for backing up your files.

Note: The partitions must be sequential, and the blank partition must be unallocated and AFTER the one it’s merging with to utilize this feature. (Example: Image)

To use the resize feature, go to Start right click Computer and click Manage. Under the Storage section, click Disk Management. Right click your main partition and choose Extend Volume. Follow the steps listed in the Wizard.

Let us know if this helps

Here is an example for you, using Vista'a Disk Managemant:

If you have C: and D:.

You shrink D: by 2Gbs. That is taken from the end of D:, not from the front of D: in Vista.

That 2Gbs then becomes Unallocated Space.

But you can not then add it to C:, as you can only Extend C: forward, which bumps straight into the front of D:, and  is stopped.

You can not grab Gbs from anywhere on the Hard Drive, and add to anywhere.

I shrinked one of my drives and Extended the drive again ...
Like in your example - shrinked D: and then extended it again but now the drive shows memory that is Original - 2 ... then was it really extended?
Microsoft must provide a solution ... because I made a mistake choosing HCL ... they never respond.
