AnswerWeird graphics issue?

For whatever reason, whenever I turn on my computer, everything (including the enter-password screen) is really bulbous, zoomed-in, and of slightly lower visual quality. My desktop wallpaper is there, but zoomed in quite a bit. I tried a system restoration, which didn't work. I tried a restoration of farther back, and that didn't fix it. I tried refreshing as a last hope, but negative. I tried replacing the background, I tried restarting, and no luck. I know virtually nothing of computers: is something wrong with the computer, or is a little hidden setting somewhere accidentally turned on? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. UPDATE: I just thought to try playing something, and sure enough, Empire: Total war has zero graphics distortion! THIS IS SO WEIRD! Please help, I've officially been stunned into incredulity.

1.Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.

    2. Under Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply

I have exactly the same problem. Some update happened between my normal use in the morning and my logging back on after lunch. A screen with something about "display" appeared, but I clicked something else too quickly and lost it. Now I can't stand how anything looks, and as  you say it's not clear, and it's too big.

    Anybody have any advice?

    Hello J Ferris,

You should have started a new question/thread you would get a better response and seen by more helpers. Not a problem though, I would recommend a system restore.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, type system restore in the Start Search box, and then click System Restore in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
    2. In the System Restore dialog box, click Choose a different restore point, and then click Next.
    3. In the list of restore points, click a restore point that was created before you began to experience the issue, and then click Next.
    4. Click Finish.

The computer restarts, and the system files and settings are returned to the state that they were in at the time that the restore point was created.

Hope this helps you. Let us know either way. Make it a great day!

I've restored twice. What seems to have happened at least to me is that the second of four settings has been disabled by yesterday's update. I can get big and fuzzy, or thin and also hard to read (I haven't tried the fourth setting, with even greater "resolution"--ha!), but the second setting, which much be what I used to have, is not longer viable--whenever I try to select it (and click yes, no, apply, okay, and any combination of those I can think of), I get bounced back to the lowest resolution (big and fuzzy)--AND MY SCREEN GOES BLACK as if the monitor has so low a resolution, nothing shows up at all. Then I have to kill everything, get back on in a non-usual way, restore, and start over again.

So I think I have the same problem. I recently connected my computer to my TV. My power shut off and when I restored my computer the screen was huge and I can barely see anything. I used to have a tech savvy boyfriend who would just push a couple of buttons to restore the screen. I was going to follow these directions, but I got lost on the first step:

Click Start , type system restore in the Start Search box, and then click System Restore in the Programs list.

So I clicked Start and I don't see a Start Search box. The options under search are for files and folders or search people. Am I looking at the wrong place?

Thank you in advance for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
