This is a brand new laptop, have been using it for about 2 months now, after putting the latop into hibernation since then a blinking white line appears at the bottom of the screen and won't got away. I have tried changing the resolution of the desktop like people have suggested, I've even system restored. It isn't a known problem with Sony Vaio. Does anyone have any suggestion of what it might be and how I can fix it, it is very irratating and distracts you from your tasks with this line blinks at you every 2 seconds.

    Hi Zashy,

Firstly verify if you used the Standby Option or the Hibernate option. Because Power Options are alight when the notebook is turned on; blinking when in standby mode; off when the notebook is in sleep mode (hibernate) or turned off.

Standby is already enabled by default. In order to check if hibernations is Enabled:

Click on Start menu > Control Panel > Display > "Screen Saver" tab > under monitor power, click [Power] > "hibernation" tab > check if the "enable hibernation” option is on or Grayed out.  If it is grayed out then your computer is not in the Hibernation mode but Standby.

If your computer does have the Hibernation option and it was used on your system try the following to check the problem:

    Disable the Display adapters:

    1.      Click on the Start Button, Right-Click on Computers and Select Manage.

    2.      Select Device Manager, now click on the (+) sign on the left side of Display Adapters and expand it.

    3.      Now right-click on the option you find there and disable it.

Restart the computer and check if you have the same problem.

    To Enable the Display Adapters:

    1.      Click on the Start Button, Right-Click on Computers and Select Manage.

    2.      Select Device Manager, now click on the (+) sign on the left side of Display Adapters and expand it.

    3.      Now right-click on the option you find there and enable it.

You can also update the drivers for the Graphic Card from the Sony Webpage:

    Hope this information was helpful.

Let me know if this worked.

    All the best!
