QuestionSystem 7 Upgrade credit for those of us who were unlucky enough to get stuck with Vista

My new PC with Vista Home Premium is only 11 months old. It has 10X the processing speed and 6X the RAM of my old XP PC, yet it is much slower. There are long pauses that seem to take forever. Why do I have to pay to get upgraded system 7? Vista is clearly a seriously flawed product. Mocrosoft needs to make some kind of accomodation to those of us who bought Vista and have had to put up with its' super slow operating system.

    I agree.

I purchased vista on 6-8-2007 with a new HP DV2312 notebook loaded with all the bells and whistles and a AMD 64x2 processor.
All total, during the subsequent 24 months; I suffered through 3 total system failures and loss of critical data; each requiring a complete re-formatting of my disc.
With each failure, I worked with MS support to get my system back up and running.
Various issues: i.e. Dec 2008 IE vulnerabilities, SP updates/installation errors, etc.

Finally, on 8-28-2009 the fourth total system failure was permanent!
According to HP support, the permanent failure may have been related to a mother board incompatibility with the AMD processor running Vista OS.
    I'm not certain?

What I do know is that HP refused to honor a free repair for the hardware issue!
Based on my purchase date June 2007; I missed the window of opportunity for a 24 mth free factory repair which had expired June 2009.
HP was willing to honor the free repair for an extended 2 months, culminating at the end of Aug 2009.
As this tragedy would end, since I delayed reporting the issue to HP until Sept. 9, 2009; I was not afforded the free repair.

Solution: I paid the $300 repair charge - out of pocket!

    Upon receiving my repaired "practically NEW" notebook back from HP;
I again performed the LABORIOUS and TIMELY procedure of re-installing all my software, including appropriate updates which had occurred during the past 24 months.

    Point of interest:
My factory installed hard drive was 120 G. -  re-installing all my software and downloading Vista SP updates required > 60 G!
Presently, I only have Personal Software, Kaspersky Internet Security, IE8, and the Vista OS installed.
I've performed all the usual maintenance and utility chores to optimize processing throughput.
My PC is so SLOOOW....and constantly hanging up; it drives me NUTS!
I'm not planning on using the system for any serious computer use at this time.

Following my 24 month Vista nightmare; and unreliable hardware system performance and service, I will NOT purchase any HP products ever again!
As I am unemployed presently; buying a new computer at this time is not an option.  (** reason I opted to pay less costly repair fee)

I too would feel somewhat better about my MS product if the company provided a courtesy upgrade to Windows 7.
Thanks to the MS Answers forum for providing a way to express my frustration.
