upgraded to IE 8 lost .pdf reader
I just upgraded to IE 8 VER 8.0.6001 18372. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
Since the upgrade I am unable to open .pdf files online. Originally IE would lock up and I had to us task manager to get it to shut down. Now I get a message from adobe reader that simply says an “internal error” has occurred. When I close that error message IE give the standard error message and restarts the tab without opening the pdf file.
Do you have any advice for me other than reverting to a restore point before I loaded IE 8? I really need to be able to read ..pdf files.- Moved byShane-Support Engineer Sunday, February 08, 2009 5:11 AM (Moved from Vista Assistant to Wireless, Internet, and Networking)

- Hi MacombPaynes,
What version of Adobe Acrobat Reader do you have installed? There's a couple of things we can try in order to get this working for you again. First, follow the steps below and see if it resolves your issue. If not, or if the option is already selected, you may want to uninstall Acrobat Reader, download the latest version from Adobe's website, and reinstall it.
Note: These steps are for Acrobat Reader 9
1. Make sure that all of your Internet Explorer browser sessions are closed
2. Start Adobe Acrobat Reader.
3. Choose Edit, and select Preferences. Then click Internet under the Categories Menu.
4. In the Web Browser Options section, select Display PDF in Browser.
5. Click OK, and then exit Acrobat Reader.
6. Restart Internet Explorer and see if the problem persists.
Please let us know if this helped resolve your issue or not, or if you have any other questions. Thank you.

- I opened reader and the setting for viewing in the browser was already on. I turned on the enhanced security setting closed it and now everything works. Adobe reader did an update when I opened it. I assume the adobe update is what corrected the problem, but I really don't know. It works now so that is enough for me,
Thanks for your help. - Turning on the enhanced security solved the problem for me as well.
- How do I turn on enhanced security?
