QuestionMedia Center channel issue

    Hi,

I live in a regional area in Victoria, Australia. There have been many reports that Windows 7 Media Center cannot receive a channel here called WIN or their new TV station GO!. This is with a range of hardware including different TV turners. Once a full channel scan is complete it detects these two stations but when you go to this station a message appears no signal and you don't ever get a picture or sound.

Vista works perfect and they software that comes with the TV turner works perfect also (i.e. WinTV, Leadtek PVR etc). We have all tried many solutions i.e. full reinstall, different versions of W7 (RC, RTM, beta) various driver revisions all without luck.

    Any ideas?

There exists an add on for 7 that uses 'virtualization' to run an old app seamlessly within 7. I don't know if they ever really plan to create a "Vista Mode" for this, but I know an "XP Mode" exists, and that Media Center does indeed have a version that runs on it. You might test your CPU's ability to run it.

That sounds almost exactly like the problem I am having except that in my case it's Vista that wont work and Windows 7 that does.  The problem is described really well by the Australian Hauppauge distributer in the link I have included.

Some TV tuner cards have an option that can be enabled in the registry to fix this problem.   If your card is such a card, you may be in luck.  Check out this link.

I'm still having the same issue. I've searched high and low and cannot find a solution. It only happens with Windows 7 Media Center. Vista is fine. Use the Leadtek software it's fine. Grrrr.....

You need to download a program listing from the internet.

Cannot receive 3 TV stations on free to air TV using windows 7 media center. All 3 stations are from the same provider, and the issue is isolated to my local area in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Problem is with WIN, WIN HD, and GO! Use different tv turners, different versions of windows (beta, RC, RTM) all have the same issue. Go to another town with the same hardware rescan stations and everything is perfect. All other stations are ok.

Detects stations when doing channel scan, but if you try and change to the affected channels it brings up "No Signal" error. Everyone in Ballarat area (postcode 3350) that i've talked to who are using windows 7 are having the same problem.
